When I grow up, I want to be a writer.
As a little girl, when asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always answered confidently: "A writer." Then, I would recite my latest collection of poems. Now, as a grown-up, I am lucky to do what I love as my career. But instead of writing the poetry and short stories of my childhood, I now use words to tell my clients' stories.
I have worked as a professional freelance writer since 2004, and I have practiced in the field of marketing and communication since 2000. I hold a degree in communication, with an emphasis in public relations, from Washington State University.
My clients represent a wide variety of industries across the U.S. My background is particularly strong in health care, higher education, business and nonprofits.
Earlier in my career, I got a taste of what it was like to be on the inside as a marketing and communications specialist for Inland Northwest Health Services, Washington State University Spokane, and the Spokane Area Economic Development Council (Greater Spokane Inc.). I draw on this experience to ensure every piece I help my clients create supports their organizations' overarching marketing and communication goals. Because I know firsthand how darn hard we marketing people work to build that brand.
I live in Washington state with my husband and two children. When I'm not pounding at the keyboard, I enjoy skiing (snow and water), golfing, camping, boating and exploring the Northwest's great outdoors with my adventurous family.
